March Manners 🏀
This month at BES, students are participating in March Manners — Bring Your Best! In the morning video announcements, and throughout their day, we are learning and important etiquette and social skills, including:
• Saying “please” and “thank you”
• Holding doors and waiting our turn
• Setting a basic table
• Using polite dining manners
• Having respectful conversations
• Listening without interrupting
• Using kind words
At Burney Elementary, we believe character matters just as much as academics. These small daily habits help students grow into respectful, responsible leaders.
We would love your partnership! 💛
You can support at home by:
• Encouraging polite conversations
• Practicing table setting together
• Noticing and praising respectful behavior
• Modeling “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me,” asking “Will you please,” and “May I please…”
-We have worked hard throughout the year on teaching students to reply when people greet them and greet them back.
-We are also working on respectful responses when asked a question. For example when the kids get home from school and you ask them how their day went, they should respond AND ask you how your day went.
It will take some prompting, but together they will succeed.
When school and home work together, our students thrive.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our Jr. Raiders bring their best — at school and beyond!

Raider Ride Rules~ If your Jr. Raider rides the bus, please remind them of the expectations for riding the bus!

We received a report that a mountain lion was spotted on Mountain View past Carberry. Our staff is being extra vigilant during this time and taking appropriate safety precautions. Please remind your children to stay alert and avoid walking alone in that area.
BBLL registration open

New meeting date will be announced soon.

Let's go Raiders!

Snow in forecast!
Important~ It’s time to review the School Snow Scoop:
-Shortly after 6:00 A.M., our district will deliver an “All Call” phone message to each student and employee’s household, indicating our district is either having a Snow Day or a Delayed Start Day. Based on satellite weather predictions, the district will announce school will be cancelled or start at the later time.
-Sorry for the early call—many students and employees leave for school very early and we want to give notification to everyone at one time.
-If it is determined we will be having a “normal” day, no announcement will be
made.
-If a Delayed Start Day is called, everything will be delayed by two hours. School will begin 10:15A.M. and end at the conclusion of their “normal” school day. *Students should not arrive to school before 9:45am*
***TK/K~ if delayed start is called, TK-K will stay until 2:35.
-Buses will pick up students two hours later than normal—if a student normally boards the bus at 7:20 A.M., they will be picked up at 9:20 A.M. Students will return home using their normal mode of transportation and arrive at the same time as other days.
-Snow Recess Rules~ Students need to be wearing snow pants, gloves and boots to play in the snow.

Burney Elementary wants to push the boundaries of TK – 6th Grade education by harnessing the power of high impact actions and strategies to advance learning and teaching.
TK: Our TK play-based program gives young learners the chance to grow through exploration, imagination, and hands-on experiences. Students build early academic skills as they talk, build, draw, and pretend together, turning games and centers into powerful learning moments. Through this kind of play, children practice sharing, problem solving, and self-regulation, helping them gain confidence and independence as they get ready for kindergarten.
KINDER: Burney Elementary’s Kindergarten sparks joy in learning for five-year-olds. Our Kinders explore reading, math, and science through group discussions, creative arts, and hands-on challenges that foster curiosity and resilience. In this dynamic program, students collaborate daily, building strong social skills and a love for school that sets them up for lifelong success.
